You paraded with two Indian Officers in the hall.

The light is just about half turned up in the

hall at the time of parade.

There is not a very good light. It is a very

dim light.

I had to take you a long way from parade to the

hospital ward up and down steps and along a subway.

There was nothing peculiar about you at that

time.

I am Chief Warder at Victoria Gaol,

I have been Chief Warder since May, 1899.

I have known Peak since the 5th March, 1900,

He has been employed in the Gaol since then as

Hospital Warder with the exception of one month, when he was

in Shanghai.

On the evening of 28th June I saw Peak at

10.40 p.m.

I saw him then in the hospital ward.

He was standing when I came in.

He was under the influence of drink.

He showed it by being very drowsy and when I

put one hand on the table. He was somewhat shaky and unsteady,

and his breath also smelt strongly of drink.
